My Culture, Your Culture, Our Culture

People all over the world have different cultures. My own family is made up of Irish, Scottish, and Native American cultures. Our Irish culture is very strong, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and my Grandma often cooks traditional Irish meals such as broth and potato soup when we have family dinners. Our Irish culture came from my Mom’s side when my Grandma and Great Grandma sailed on a ship from Ireland to Ellis Island. At Ellis Island, they changed our family name from O’Ruen to Rouen. On the other hand, my Dad’s culture we don’t traditionally follow. There are fewer relatives on my Dad’s side and they live much farther away, so we don’t know much about our Scottish and Native American background.
Apart from my own culture, we all share the American culture. Other cultures might picture American culture as weird, different maybe even rude, but we have the same idea for their culture. American culture is made up of all different cultures like Spanish culture, Jewish culture, and many others. American culture is one culture adapted from many others. Our holidays are mostly holidays that other cultures practice such as; Christmas, Easter, New Years, and many others. Like other cultures we have our own holidays too including: Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and several others. Americans have culture in what they wear. Americans might wear blue jeans and a t-shirt while someone in India might wear a Sari. American culture is also different because of our language. Our language came from Great Britain but it evolved over time to have different words than Great Britain. Every culture is different in some way from another culture that is what makes each culture their own.
